While on holiday in Malta with our puzzle-loving friends, our passion for escape rooms took over. We always try to complete one wherever we travel, and after a quick online search, we discovered Can You Escape, Malta.
Located in a charming and quirky crafts village, the venue was well signposted, making it easy to find. Upon arrival, we received a warm and welcoming reception, which set the tone for an enjoyable experience.

After browsing their themed rooms online, we booked The Forbidden Castle—and it turned out to be one of the best decisions we’ve ever made. From the moment we stepped inside, we were transported back in time, surrounded by stunning, period-appropriate décor that fully immersed us in the castle setting.
The room featured a variety of unique and engaging mechanics, requiring teamwork while providing a strong sense of progression. While not the most technologically advanced room, the puzzles were cleverly designed to fit the medieval theme perfectly.
It’s a puzzle-heavy experience with plenty to solve in just 60 minutes, but once you push through the first few sections and enter open play, you can fully immerse yourself in the game. The room is physically demanding—waivers must be signed before entry—but these elements only enhance the adventure. A great mix of puzzles and locks keeps you engaged, ensuring there’s never a dull moment. As a team of four, we were constantly busy and fully involved in the challenge.

Although we needed a small hint for one of the puzzles, the overall flow of the room was seamless. Our game master, Aiden, was an absolute delight—his professionalism and enthusiasm for the games were evident from start to finish.
He monitored our progress closely, offering just the right level of hints via microphone when we needed them, ensuring the experience remained fun and rewarding. His customer service went above and beyond—he even let us store our luggage while we grabbed a coffee and kindly reset a room early so we could squeeze in one more game before heading to the airport.
Final Thoughts
We had such a great time in The Forbidden Castle that we immediately booked their other two rooms for the following day! The masterminds behind these escape rooms deserve huge credit—the visual and mental challenges are outstanding.
