Each room we review is scored across five key categories, with an overall rating at the end. If you see an EscapedHQ Top Rated badge, you know it’s a must-play!
We rate every escape room on the following five elements, each scored out of 10 points:
⭐ Set Design (10/10): Are the props, lighting, and sound effects realistic and high quality? Does the room transport you into the experience?
🧩 Puzzle Quality (10/10): Do the puzzles make sense within the theme? Are they balanced between logic, skill, and teamwork?
🎭 Immersion (10/10): How well is the story integrated? Does the room create a believable world, or does it just feel like puzzles in a box?
💡 Logic & Flow (10/10): Does the game keep players engaged without frustration? Is there a smooth flow between puzzles?
👥 Game Mastering (10/10): Is the Game Master engaging and reactive? Are hints well-timed and do they fit into the theme?
From there we then calculate a final score star rating out of 50 points, which translates into the following star ratings:
- ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 45-50 (Elite Escape Experience)
- ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 35-44 (Highly Recommended)
- ⭐⭐⭐ 25-34 (A Pleasant Experience)
- ⭐ ⭐ 15-24 (Needs Improvement)
- ⭐ 0-14 (Major Redesign Required)
